Traditional Apple Pie with Crunchy Crumble, Served Warm with Vanilla Ice Cream

Autumn is the time when the kitchen is filled with the aroma of cinnamon and baked apples. One of the most classic and beloved desserts during this season is apple pie. This dessert combines delicate, aromatic apples with a crunchy crumble, and when served warm with vanilla ice cream, it becomes a true delight for the palate.
Ingredients for the Perfect Apple Pie:
To prepare apple pie, we need a few basic ingredients that we usually have at home:
1 kg apples (preferably tart, e.g., Renette)
2 cups wheat flour
1 cup sugar
1 stick of butter (200 g)
2 eggs
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
A pinch of salt
Preparation:
Preparing the Apples:
Peel the apples, remove the cores, and slice them thinly. Then mix them with half a cup of sugar and cinnamon. Set aside to allow the apples to release their juice.
Preparing the Dough:
In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, the remaining sugar, and a pinch of salt. Add the cold butter and chop it with a knife or mix until you get a crumbly texture. Add one egg and quickly knead the dough. Divide it into two parts – one slightly larger, the other smaller.
Making the Crust:
Spread the larger part of the dough on a greased and floured baking tray, forming the base and sides. Place the prepared apples on the dough, drained of excess juice.
Crumble:
Add one egg to the remaining dough and mix until you get a crumble. Sprinkle it over the apples.
Baking:
Bake the apple pie in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for about 45-50 minutes, until the top is golden brown. Serving: It tastes best warm, so after taking it out of the oven, it's worth waiting a few minutes for the pie to cool slightly but still be warm. Serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, which pairs perfectly with the warm, aromatic pie and creates an ideal temperature contrast.
